Watering during a Hosepipe Ban
With the imposition of a hosepipe ban please water using a watering can.
The NAS suggest the following strategies:
1. Water early morning or late evening
2. Mulch around your plants to lock in moisture
3. Water Smart, water at the roots and focus on plants that need it the most
4. Build plant resilience, e.g. water root veg every few days to encourage deeper root growth
5. Collect and reuse water. Use 'grey water' e.g. from washing or boiling veg, waiting for a tap to run warm etc. See thenas.org.uk for more.
Competition
National Allotment Society Christmas Card Competion
The NAS are running a competition for a brilliant allotment photo to feature on their Christmas card.
From frosty plots to winter wild-life if you have a photo you think would make a great card they would love to see it.
To enter send a high resolution file to marketing@thenas.org.uk with Christmas Card Competition in the subject line.

We Need You!
As you will know running a Society like the HHS does not happen by magic. To continue running the shows, plant sales, the allotments and other activities we need more members to be actively involved.
From helping put out tables, serving teas, selling tickets to helping administer the allotments, membership, judging and the business and legal sides of the Society, your help would be greatfully appreciated. Please get in touch by either asking a Committee member or drop an email to us at:

Allotment Fees Now Due
The Allotment Committee would like to remind all tenants that alloment rental fees are now due and invoices have been sent out by Email.
We would appreciate that these fees are paid quickly either using the online details in your invoice or dirctly to a committee member.
The fees include Society and NSA membership, insurance and water.
A copy of the HHS Allotment Rules are also attached.

Junior Members Page
If you are under 16 you can become a member of the Society and enter the Junior Section classes at the shows.
There is an area of the website for you with ideas, garden tips and recipes for you to have a go at.

The Winter show is coming and there are some great things you can make and enter in to the show.
How about a finger puppet of your favourite panto character or an arrangement of flowers, berries and foliage in a vase. For the cooks, have a go at some mincepies. There's a recipe on the Junior Member page you can try.
RHS Glow at
RHS Wisley
RHS Glow has become a fixture in the calendar at RHS Wisley which provides a back drop for a stunning winter eonderland of light and sound installations.
This year brings some new surprises with an illuminated enchanted garden,
and illuminations inspired by mycelium root networks.
The RHS Glow runs on selected dates from 20th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027 with adult tickets starting from £7.50.
