Show Regulations
- All exhibits must have been grown or made by the exhibitor. Pot plants must have been in their possession for at least two months.
- The Society reserves the right to inspecy the ground of an exhibitor before and after any show and to refuse an entry and to withhold or modify a prize, without explanation.
- An exhibitor may stage two exhibits per Class, but only the superior shall count for points and prizes, should both be judged of merit.
- A novice shall be an exhibitor who has won two or less first prizes.
- no exhibit may be shown which has won a prize at a pervious HHS show.
- Exhibitors must send their entries to be received by 9:00pm on the Thursday prior to the Show. Adult exhibitors by Email to hayeshorticulturalsociety@outlook.com and juniors by phone to the Junior Section Secretary. Late entries will not be accepted. See page 6 of the current Schedule for the details regarding Entries for Shows.
- Staging of exhibits can take place on the Friday between 7:15pm and 8:00pm, and on the Saturday between 9:00am and 11:45am only.
- Entry fees must be tendered at staging and are as follows: Adults: Members 30p per entry; maximum £5.00. Non-Members: 40p per entry. Juniors: No charge (but must be the child or grandchild of a Member).
- Exhibitors must ensure that their entry cards, issued at staging, are correct and are placed face down alongside their exhibits. If possible, ciltivars (variety/kind) should be named.
- Vases, containers of sand (for Pansies and Violas) and trays (for Collections) are provided by the Society; all damage or losses to be made good. Plates, dishes, containers and other display items are to be provided by the exhibitor and at their own risk. The Society will not be held liable for compensation for any loss or damage to any exhibits or property.
- Judging will commence at 12 noon. Points for Classes will be awarded as follows: 1st = 3pts, 2nd = 2pts, 3rd = 1pt and Highly Commended 1/2pt. In the event of a tie for an award, this will be made to the exhibitor with the greater number of 1st prizes, then 2nd and so on. Any protest must be made in writing and given to a member of the Committee by 3:30pm on the day of the Show, together with a fee of £1.00, which willl be refunded if the protest is upheld.
- Once exhibits have been judged, they may not be altered or removed until after Prize Giving, which commences from 4:30pm (4:00pm for the Winter Show). Any award not claimed within 7 days shall be forfeited.
- Trophies are awarded to Members only. Members musi return Perpetual trophies in a clean and good condition, to a Committee member prior to the same Show in the next year.
