About the Society
The Hayes Horticultural Society officially dates to 1892, but there are records of a group dating back to 1804 exhibiting at that years' Hayes Fair.
The original objectives of the Society:
"To encourage the cultivation of flowers, fruit and vegetables"
are still at the heart of what we do. In these changing times the Society also hopes to raise awareness of how we can enrich lives and wellbeing through plants and gardens, share our knowledge and support the local community, We run Shows through the year, hold plant sales and have an Allotment, at which members can apply to rent a plot.
Together, we hope to continue the gardening traditions we have now and cultivate a greener future for everyone, inspiring a lifelong appreciation for plants and nature.

Allotments
The Society has an Allotment, behind the houses in Constance Crescent, in which members may be able to rent a plot on a yearly basis. The plots come in different sizes and the fee for each one reflects this. The fee also covers a contribution to water use, insurance, membership of the Hayes Horticultural Society and The National Allotment Society.

Plant Sales
The Society aims to run seasonal plant sales, when possible, which are very popular with local gardeners with plants selling quickly. These sales are held either outside Hayes Village Hall or at the Allotments in Constance Crescent.
We also run a plant stall at the Hayes Fair each summer.
Plants for sale are mostly grown by members and the funds raised go towards support the Society and its work in the community.
In The Community
HVA Front Garden Competition
In conjuction with the Hayes Village Association the Front Garden Competition is run each year selecting the best that the Village has to offer. No entry is required as all front gardens are eligible.
Floral Art Workshop
The Society organise a workshop for all those interested in floral art. A guest expert will guide participants through design, selection of plants, creation and techniques to produce a display.
Hayes Fair
We run a plant stall at the annual Hayes Fair which takes place at The Warren.
Links with other Community Groups
At each of our shows we invite a local non-profit organisation or charity to promote the work and support they offer in our community. This can include displays, fundraising items and volunteers to talk to visitors.
